The Municipal Museum and Gallery in Břeclav has exhibited an exhibition documenting the results of extensive archaeological excavations of the Slavic settlement, which have been underway here since 1957.
The most extensive early medieval fortifications in our country and one of the largest in Central Europe were built in Pohansko at the beginning of the 9th century. The leading place among the local discoveries is the magnificent manor house surrounded by a wooden palisade. Inside the courtyard there was the seat of a magnificent man built on stone retaining walls, a stone church decorated with frescoes, a burial ground with a number of silver and gold jewelry and an economic background.
Near the chateau Pohansko about 3 km south of Břeclav there is on the site of a significant lowland fort gradually built archeoskanzen, where you can see, among other things, a replica of the cult site formed by wooden idols of pagan deities. In addition to the pagan sanctuary of the early 10th century, there is a 9th-century well.
