Hohenaschau Castle towers over Aschau in Chiemgau.
Hohenaschau Castle was built in the 12th century by Konrad and Arnold von Hirnsberg. It served as a stronghold at the entrance to the Upper Priental. In the 16th and 17th centuries, the castle was extended to include the Baroque castle chapel and the Benefiziatenhaus – today's Prientalmuseum –. To delve deeper into the history of the castle, guided tours are available, with normal tours and children's tours lasting about an hour each.
