Schloss mit Museumsinsel
Auf der heutigen Museumsinsel befindet sich das Schloss Gottorf, das ehemals als Residenz der Herzöge von Gottorf diente und über die Jahrhunderte mehrmals umgebaut wurde: Von einer mittelalterlichen Burg (1161 erstmals erwähnt) über eine Renaissancefestung (16. Jh.) bis zum Barockschloss (Anfang 18. Jh.).
Heute beherbergt die Museumsinsel Schloss Gottorf verschiedene Museen mit dem Schwerpunkt Kunst und Archäologie.
