The renovated Ducal Museum in the south of the complex was reopened on 19th October 2013. It contains a multitude of works of art from ancient times right through to the modern era, including pieces by Cranach and Caspar David Friedrich and one of the oldest collections of Egyptian artefacts in Europe. The exhibition rooms themselves have been returned to their original state as they were back in 1879 and are therefore yet again extremely spacious and luxurious.
