Chrast Castle

Albrecht Slavata of Chlum and Košumberk had a manor house built on the land where the fast house once stood in 1579-1605. In the 17th century it became the summer residence of the bishops of Hradec Králové, who significantly rebuilt it in the Baroque style during the 18th century. Today, the castle complex is a museum of local history with four wings and an ornamental garden from the 19th century, which was redesigned by the architect Thomayer in 1903. Inside the castle you can see exhibitions of geology, paleontology, prehistoric settlement, the historical development of Chrast and rare objects of extinct crafts and weaving.
