Le château de Châteaudun, situé au sud du département d'Eure-et-Loir, est souvent désigné comme le "premier des châteaux de la Loire" pour le visiteur venant de Paris.

D'une ampleur spectaculaire, surplombant le Loir a plus de 60 mètres, le château aligne une rare succession d'éléments d'architecture médiévale, gothique et Renaissance, dont 2 escaliers à loggias donnant sur la cour.

L'intérieur est admirablement conservé et présente une importante collection de tapisseries. La Sainte-Chapelle gothique, bâtie par Jean de Dunois, abrite une statuaire remarquable. Au pied de l'imposant donjon, un jardin médiéval a été conçu sur le thème "cuisine et médecine au Moyen-Âge.
