On the site of Ittenwiller, one kilometre west of Saint-Pierre, there was a potters' workshop in Roman times, one of the first sites in Alsace. Vestiges of the time have been found on site. In 1115, Canon Conrad founded an Augustinian priory next to a chapel. In 1661, the Bishop of Strasbourg restored the buildings that had fallen into ruin. The enclosure of the former priory currently includes a section of fortified enclosure with gunboats, a moat with bridges and an entrance structure, a dwelling, farm buildings, a vegetable garden, a park and an orchard. The castle is inhabited by the family of the Counts of Andlau.PRIVATE PROPERTY
