The castle Snežnik or Snow Mountain is located in the Slovenian Lož Valley and was inhabited by Germans for a long time.
The small castle in the countryside was built in the 11th century and originally inhabited by the German Schneeberg family. Afterwards, various other families followed as owners of the building, most recently the Lichtenberg family, who lived here for about 140 to 150 years. On a guided tour of the castle, you can visit all the rooms and learn a lot about the history of the castle and the families. Various exhibitions by regional artists can also be viewed in the cellar. There is also a small shop offering souvenirs for sale. Today, the castle Snežnik is a popular location for weddings. A wedding ceremony takes place here almost every Saturday of the year.
