“Castelo” or” Kasteli” was the protector of Avlemonas. This fortress was built in 1725 during the Venetian rule as the seat of five soldiers. On the south side of the building there is a part of the winged lion of Agios Markos, an emblem of the Venetians. The building is octagonal and inside it has 14 arches on the perimeter wall. Formerly a tower was raised in the center of the building. There are abandoned cannons scattered in the inner corridor. It is listed as a historical monument since 1980 and in recent decades some interventions have been made for its maintenance.
