Castel Telvana

A castle that dominates the historic town of Borgo Valsugana, reachable along a mule track called the "Path of Castles"

Originally, given the location, Castel Telvana had to be a military structure with great strategic value: moreover, in the oldest nucleus, which is located near the tower, you can still admire the curtains that unite the ramparts, placed to protect the residence. The history of the castle merges with that of Borgo Valsugana, called Ausugum in ancient times, then Borgum Ausugi, an important Roman fortress dominating the Via Claudia Augusta Altinate. Castel Telvana can be reached through the "Sentiero dei Castelli" (Castle Trail), which starts from the historical centre of Borgo, passes along the slopes of Mount Ciolino and reaches the back of the castle, from where one can admire the entire Valsugana valley.
