Information board "The Castle in St. Johann"
After the destruction of Neuscharfeneck Castle in 1623, the administrative seat of the Scharfeneck domain was moved to the former buildings of the Reuerinnen Monastery of St. Johann.
Around 1760, plans were made for the construction of a significant administrative building. Commissioned by the Prince of Löwenstein-Wertheim, the old building was demolished, and a new building was erected in the Rococo style from 1764 to 1774. Over the years, ownership changed frequently.
After a renovation, the building is used as a study house for BASF.
