A beleza natural da nascente do rio Lis permite ver a água brotar de uma forma surpreendente em alguns meses do ano. Sendo um dos pouco, a nível nacional, que vê a sua corrente seguir o sentido norte-sul e, nos quilómetros finais, o sentido este-oeste, atravessa depois o centro da cidade de Leiria, passando por planícies aluvionares, chamadas de Campos do Lis, e desaguando na Praia da Vieira.
