The Schiller Bridge and the historic city wall are closely linked to the development of the old town - they show very well how the medieval fortifications have changed over the course of time.

The Schiller Bridge was built in 1905 on the 100th anniversary of Schiller's death, replaced in 1970 and reconstructed in 2009 for the 250th anniversary of his birth.
