Whether you are a railroad, hiking or nature lover - the Hetzdorf Viaduct is a unique experience for everyone. The viaduct is a listed former railroad bridge on the Dresden-Werdau line. The bridge was taken out of service in 1992. Today it can be crossed on foot and is 43 meters high and 328 meters long. It has four large and thirteen small arches. The bridge describes an arc with a radius of 572 meters. Blue-grey gneiss, granite and Pirna sandstone were used as building materials.
Today, the bridge is a highlight of the Ostsee-Saaletalsperren long-distance hiking trail. It offers an unforgettable view over the Flöha Valley. If you want to let your eyes wander even further over the valley, you should climb the Bastei, which is just a few hundred meters higher up.
