A place brimming with energy and a sweeping view: From the Hackerbrücke, you can watch the sun set over Munich’s railway landscape—a magical moment where movement meets stillness.
The Hackerbrücke is one of Munich’s most famous spots for watching the sunset. From here, you look directly out over the sprawling track layout of the main train station—a fascinating interplay of light, movement, and urban energy. The current bridge was built in the 1890s and has long since become a popular gathering place. Especially in the evening, people gather here to end the day together. The setting sun colours the city in warm colors, while trains pass by beneath you.
Fun Fact: The Hackerbrücke is probably one of the few places in Munich where people voluntarily stop to watch trains. Usually, when you think of “hanging out by the tracks,” you think of delays and bad moods—but on the Hackerbrücke, people sit there on purpose for hours and say things like, “Wow, look, an ICE.” 🚆🍺
Let yourself be carried away by the moment and enjoy the special atmosphere.
