The 135 km long Nahe Cycle Route is one of the seven premium routes in Rhineland-Palatinate and runs along the entire length of the Nahe River.

The cycling tour begins at the Nahe source in Selbach near Nohfelden on Lake Bostal and leads in several loops, and with a short but steep ascent, to Idar-Oberstein. Here a visit to the German Gemstone Museum is well worthwhile. This stage is 50 km long and suitable for athletic cyclists.
From Idar-Oberstein the route leads past Kirn with the Kyrburg castle and the beautiful market place to Bad Sobernheim, which scores with an open-air museum and barefoot path.

The tour then continues through the famous Nahe wine-growing region. This stage is 32 km long and is perfect for a leisurely tour with the whole family as is the last 46 km long stretch. Once the short ascent to the former Niederhausen wine-growing domain is completed, cyclists are rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Nahe Valley.

The route now follows a former railway line past the highest rock face north of the Alps, the Rotenfels, to Bad Münster am Stein-Ebernburg. Just outside Bad Kreuznach, famous for its historic bridge houses, the bathhouse and the thermal bath, you will discover the Salinental valley with its 1.1 km long graduation works, the largest open-air inhalation park in Europe.

The remainder of the route you can cycle leisurely through the flat Nahe landscape to the estuary of the Nahe in Bingen am Rhein.
