The Turkish Staircase

A white cliff with an undulating shape that makes it look like a staircase

Located in Realmonte, in the province of Agrigento, the Scala dei Turchi is a popular attraction among Italian and international tourists. Erosion over centuries has altered the marl of which it is composed, a limestone and clay rock with a characteristic bright white colour, and created steps in an irregular, undulating shape.
