The “pool” of Avlemonas in this narrow little cape, with the passing above, creates a unique setting. It is an ideal place for swimming and relaxing from the balcony high up with the wonderful view. It is one of the most photographed landscapes of Kythera. The active clubs of the village have taken care of the entire coastal front and the path that crosses it, connecting the port with the Kastelo. Small boats are tied in the bay, and sometimes in spring freshly cut capers are desalted in the coast by the sea. As narrow as the rocky bay of Avlemonas is, so wide is the sandy beach of Piazza next door, which is the largest on the island.
