Vielfach ist der Nutzen des Weihers für Mensch und Natur. Wirtschaftlich stand viele Jahrzehnte die Teichwirtschaft, betrieben durch das Haus Fugger-Babenhausen, im Vordergrund. Im Sommer gönnen sich seit jeher zahlreiche Einheimische und Ausflügler ein erfrischendes Bad. Die Markgemeinde Markt Wald pflegt eine Badewiese am östlichen Ufer. Ein Holzsteg und eine Wasserrutsche sorgen für Kurzweil. Doch Vorsicht: Es handelt sich um einen unbeaufsichtigten Badeplatz, allerdings auch ohne Eintrittspreis. Zelten und nächtliche Feiern in diesem Naturparadies werden unterbunden.
