Mattila artificial pond beach is one of the beaches maintained by the city. The sports department is responsible for the maintenance of the beach (cleaning, waste management, toilets) and the environment department of the Lappeenranta region monitors the water quality. A fitness trail and a Frisbee golf course run around the Mattila pond, and there is a sand field next to it.
