Der Hufeisensee liegt im Freizeit- und Naherholungsgebiet Wietzepark. Dieser bietet ein reichhaltiges Angebot zur aktiven, sportlichen Freizeitgestaltung.

Im Freizeit- und Naherholungsgebiet Wietzepark gelegen, bietet der Hufeisensee ein reichhaltiges Angebot zur aktiven, sportlichen Freizeitgestaltung. Er liegt an der Starße Reuterdamm / Am Ortfelde, gegenüber der Pferderennbahn "Neue Bult". Eine Gastronomie "Seehaus" liegt direkt am See und Starnd. Parkplätze sind vorhanden. Bis 2014 wurde außerhalb der Saison Kies abgebaut wird. Die Umgebung des Sees ist landwirtschaftlich durch Äcker und Wiesengeprägt.

Zufinden sind auch WC, weitläufige Liegewiese, Sandstrand, Tische mit Bänken. Die DLRG betreibt eine Station vor Ort und führt einen Wachdienst durch ab dem 15. Mai und endet am 15. September. In diesem Zeitraum ist dieStation bei schönem Wetter an den Wochenenden und Feiertagen besetzt.
