Feininger Turm Mellingen

Der Turm wurde 1999 in Mellingen errichtet. Hierbei handelt es sich um eine Kunstinstallation mit dem Namen “Doppeltes Motiv” des Schweizer Architekten Marcel Kalberer.

Die Installation soll die Malweise des Malers und Graphikers Lyonel Feininger nachempfinden und verdeutlichen. Basis und Inspiration für den Turm ist das Aquarell “Mellingen” – es zeigt den Kirchturm des Ortes. Das Originalbild kann im Bürgermeisteramt besichtigt werden (Tel: 036453 80222). Die Rohr- und Stangenkonstruktion in den typischen Bauhaus-Farben versinnbildlicht auf dreidimensionalem Wege, was Feininger in seiner Zeit am Bauhaus auf Papier brachte und erinnert stark an seine Maltechnik. Der Turm liegt am Feininger-Radweg, der von Weimar aus auf etwa 30 km Länge die wichtigsten Stationen im Schaffen des Bauhaus-Künstlers miteinander verbindet.
