Geilo has long traditions in the art of forging. Hol's municipal arms are three anvils. In the old days the blacksmith was highly regarded in the countryside, and the molding and hardening of the iron was almost considered magic. The iron ore extraction started up here already in the 300's and we can follow the lines right up to the three remaining factories; Brusletto, Øyo and Skaugum, which today maintains proud craftsmanship traditions while still being innovative in their fields. Visit the factories, see the amazing products and get the story directly from the descendants. The factories are close to each other and are easy to find from the main road, you can walk, cycle or the road map contains information about both route and opening hours.
