Schlössel

The Schlössel is the site of the church, the former cemetery and the presbytery, on a small hill overlooking the Klosterwald.
In the past, the Schlössel was a stronghold surrounded by fortifications, still visible in the old cemetery, and a moat known as the "Kirchgraben" (church moat). This ditch was filled in by Mr. Kammer between 1955 and 1963.
In Abbé Nartz's book, we find the following description of the site: "If it predates the actual town walls, it consists of the entire enclosure including the church, the rector's residence and the cemetery, all duly protected by ditches and ramparts".
