The Old Fire Station building, built in the 1960s by the Dutchman Coxman as a home economics school, later housed the first fire brigade unit. It was damaged in the 2025 fire.
The Old Fire Station building was built by the Dutchman Coxman, who worked for the World Council of Churches and came to the island on the initiative of Metropolitan Meletios to undertake a series of development projects during the 1960s. The building belonged to an institution that no longer exists. Coxman utilized the plot and arranged for a home economics school to be built. After the school was abandoned, the first unit of the Fire Service was established there, from which the building still retains its name. The building was damaged during the large fire in the summer of 2025.
