Das erstmals 1337 erwähnte Tor mit seinem fünfgeschossigen Turm mit Stadtuhr und Stadtglocke wurde auch als "Haberntor" bezeichnet. Das Zeltdach mit Zwerchhäusern und den oktogonalen Erkertürmchen verleiht dem Bau sein charakteristische Aussehen, das in die Zeit um 1500 weist. Jährlich zur Fastnacht wird der Turm zum wohl größten Faschingsnarren der Welt verkleidet.
Die Innenräume sind im Rahmen von Stadtführungen zu besichtigen.
