The rest of a lodgings quarter, built at the beginning of the 19th century and located between Max-Weber-Platz and Wiener Platz.
Krepe means as much as dry ditch, because due to lack of space the inhabitants built their houses directly into the sand and water ditches. Even today we still find small mud houses in the day labourer used to, hidden between modern houses. While strolling through the pretty alleys it seems as if not the most needy people live here anymore. Until the 80s, however, Haidhausen was considered a poor people's quarter. Houses without bath and toilet, sometimes even without electricity, were not uncommon in Haidhausen until the 1980s. No living pleasure but cheap!
