In 1956 a Roman estate, that existed from the beginning of the 2. century to the middle of the 4. century AD, was found alongside the road "zum Weiler Kreut". The villa, one of the large villas of the former province of Rhaetia, was located at the intersection of the former Roman imperial road Via Claudia Augusta and of a connecting road to the Brenner Pass.
The Villa Rustica of Peitingen is one of the rare atrium houses in Germany, that moreover has instead of the otherwise customary corner risalits two apsis.
