1984 entdeckte der jetzige Ausgrabungsleiter Dr. Franz Glaser die frühchristliche Bischofskirche, die heute überdacht und den Besuchern zugänglich ist. Die Bischofskirche hatte man zuvor unter der mittelalterlichen Pfarrkirche vermutet; Franz Glaser schloss jedoch anhand historischer Vergleiche auf die tatsächliche Lage an der westlichen Stadtmauer. Die Kirche stammt vom Beginn des 5. Jahrhunderts und wurde nach einem Brand am Beginn des 6. Jahrhunderts dreischiffig und mit drei Apsiden wieder aufgebaut. Analog zur Situation am Hemmaberg könnte die Bischofskirche als Versammlungsort der katholischen Gemeinde gedient haben, während in der Friedhofskirche die Arianer ihre Gottesdienste abhielten.
Höhepunkt des Besuches ist das neue Römermuseum im Ortszentrum von St. Peter in Holz, in dem zahlreiche Artefakte aus dem Stadtgebiet von Teurnia ausgestellt sind. In der Nähe des Museums befinden sich die konservierten Reste einer römischen villa urbana (Stadtvilla), die als Besonderheit ein einfaches Hypokaustum in Ypsilonform aufweist. Neben der Bischofskirche wurde das spätantike bischöfliche Hospitium (Gästehaus) gefunden; es ist jedoch heute wieder mit Erde überdeckt. Weitere Ausgrabungen sind im Gange. Besucher erhalten durch Schaukästen auf dem gesamten Gelände Erklärungen zur Geschichte der Stadt und zu den Grabungen.
