Im Circus wurden Pferde- und Wagenrennen ausgetragen. Er lag zwischen der Via Augusta und dem Provinzforum und war 325 Meter lang und fast 115 Meter breit.

Der Circus von Tarragona wurde im 1. Jahrhundert gebaut und ist aufgrund seiner zentralen Lage in der Stadt und einiger architektonischer Merkmale besonders erwähnenswert. Er ist einer der besterhaltenen der westlichen Welt und Teile seiner Struktur befinden sich noch unter alten Gebäuden aus dem 19. Jahrhundert.

Beim Praetorium handelt es sich um einen Turm römischer Zeitgeschichte, über dessen Treppen man vom unteren Stadtteil über den Circus bis zum Provinzforum gelangte, das mit dem Circus über unterirdische Gänge verbunden war. Es ist eines der Winkel des großen Rechtecks des Platzes des Provinzforums.

Circus und Provinzforum zählen zum UNESCO-Welterbe.
