Entre L’Isle et Montricher, le lieu-dit évocateur du Châtillon conserve le site d’une ancienne motte castrale, signe souvent de l’existence d’un petit pouvoir local, voire d’un petit bourg, soit disparu soit déplacé vers un site plus propice. Lors des fouilles, les archéologues ont découvert la trace, en contrebas, d’un petit site romain, encore inconnu.
