Tappa di grande impatto naturalistico che entra nel territorio protetto del Parco nazionale dei Monti Sibillini e ne percorre le pendici boscose fino a Cessapalombo, porta nord del Parco. Le storie dei carbonai e dei pastori si intrecciano con quelle di san Francesco e dei suoi sodali, basti pensare al convento di San Liberato dove sono stati redatti i celebri Fioretti. Il sentiero prosegue nella terra dei castelli del comune di Caldarola (Vestignano, Croce Pievefavera) per poi scendere alla piccola frazione di Caccamo sul Lago.
