On the Rome Way from the Holy Mountain to the Holy City
The Rome Way / Cammino di Roma
This route to Rome leads from Styria to Klagenfurt in Carinthia, Kranjska Gora in Slovenia, and further to Tarvisio in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region.
From here, the route goes via San Daniele, San Vito al Tagliamento, Treviso to Padua to the Basilica of Saint Anthony.
Via the Anthony Way / Cammino di Sant'Antonio it continues through Rovigo, Ferrara, and Bologna to the Emilia-Romagna region to the Anthony hermitage near Dovadola. From here, it follows the Francis Way / Cammino di Assisi, passing through places where Saint Francis lived and worked, from the Tuscan monastery La Verna via the towns of Gubbio and Assisi to the Franciscan monasteries near Rieti. On the last 100 km one pilgrims on the Via di Roma via Monterotondo to St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.
The route
The starting point of this pilgrimage route is the Holy Mountain in Bärnbach. The Rome Way partly follows already existing pilgrim paths (Jakobsweg West Steiermark, Hemmaweg, Benediktweg, Carinthian Mariazell Way, Jakobsweg Carinthia, Friulian Jakobsweg, Anthony Way, Francis Way).

Der Romweg / Cammino di Roma
Der Südösterreichische Weg nach Rom führt von der Steiermark nach Klagenfurt in Kärnten, Kranjska Gora in Slowenien und weiter nach Tarviso in die Region Friaul - Julisch Venetien.
Von hier führt die Route über San Daniele, San Vito al Tagliamento, Trevisio bis nach Padua zur Grabeskirche des heiligen Antonius.
Über den Antoniusweg / Cammino di Sant´Antonio geht es über Rovigo nach Ferrara in die Region Emilia-Romagna zur Antonius-Einsiedelei bei Dovadola. Ab hier folgt man den Franziskusweg / Cammino di Assisi, wobei man auf Orte trifft, an denen der heilige Franziskus gelebt und gewirkt hat, vom toskanischen Kloster La Verna über die Städte Gubbio und Assisi bis zu den Franziskus-Klöstern bei Rieti. Auf den letzten 100 km pilgert man auf der Via di Roma über Monterotondo bis zum Petersdom in Rom.
