Very panoramic route that cross the 'Serra da Arrabida' from the city of Setubal to Azeitão.Very long path, not technically hard, but phisically very demanding. Very important to stay in a good fit, and bring food and 1,5/2 L of water.

Journeying on the Ways is to relive that history in the traces that the passing of time failed to erase, it is making the traveller a witness to a narrative revealed in its tangible and intangible heritage, in its lands, towns and curiosities, its cuisine, peoples and customs, those that have gone and those that continue to be, and who by taking part are unable to resist the enchantments revealed along the way.
To experience the Caminhos de Santiago Alentejo e Ribatejo is more than a journey, it is an experience like no other, which marks us, and which we treasure. One we will want to repeat.

Lisbon --- Alhandra (Portuguese way) We had slept at 'the lisbonnhotel' very well located, very friendly welcome. We take the green metro at Martin Moniz, change at Alameda to take the red and get off at Oriente. This allows us to save 6km on foot during the stage. the route takes the metro into account. We then follow the Tagus for a while, sometimes on wooden footbridges, sometimes on the dike. a small bar halfway along by the beach. After crossing the railway line, we cross a small industrial area then the last 3 km along National 11 which is much less fun we will sleep at the famila pilgrims' association, reserved for pilgrims only.

The village of Branca belongs to the municipality of Coruche, the tenth-largest in the country, calling itself the "World Capital of Cork". It is from here that 10% of Portugal’s cork is extracted and 5 million cork stoppers leave every day. More than half of Coruche is a mixed forest of cork oak and pine trees, ensuring not only the quality of cork, timber and pine nuts but also the ecosystem and pastures suitable for wild cattle farms.

Alhandra to Azambuja via Vila Franca de Xira and Vila Nova da Rainha on February 22, 2026. A nice stage up to Villafranca along the Tagus and then quiet trails with some water passages. we then arrive at the last town before Azambuja and we follow the national road. the path, as yesterday, was nicely redrawn contrary to everything I had read. we will go to the Azambuja pilgrim hostel, reserved for pilgrims, to call the volunteer just use the QR code on the entrance door which allows us to call to get the entrance code of the hostel.
