An important pilgrimage route already led through the Eifel from Andernach on the Rhine towards Trier on the Moselle via the former Roman road in the Middle Ages. Since 2008, the St. Matthias Brotherhood Mayen has marked the Eifel-Camino, initially in the Mayen-Koblenz district, from Namedy via Andernach, Mayen, and Monreal to the Heunenhof with pilgrimage stones and pilgrimage information steles made of basalt lava. Additionally, you can find the Europe-wide valid marking of the yellow stylized shell on a blue background. Meanwhile, the route is continuously marked over about 160 kilometers via Kaisersesch, Bad Bertrich, Wittlich, and Klausen. In Klausen, the Eifel-Camino merges with the Mosel-Camino and leads via Klüsserath and Schweich to Trier up to the grave of the Apostle Matthias.
