Argenta probably arose in Roman times, however, tradition tells that it was built by the will of Esuperatius, Bishop of Ravenna from 425 to 430 on the right bank of the river Po, in the vicinity of the church of S. Giorgio, the oldest cult place in the district, today about 1 km away from the town. More info @ viaromeagermanica.com
