In this last stage of the Fisterra Way, you’ll walk the shortest section, balancing out the effort of the previous day. Leaving Cee along the coastline, you’ll pass through the historic neighbouring town of Corcubión. From there, the Camino heads inland to overcome a slope but quickly returns to the shore, which it follows without interruption from Estorde to Fisterra. What remains is a succession of rugged stretches and beaches, with the Ría de Corcubión — known here as the Mar de Dentro — always on your left. One of the highlights, especially on a hot day, is taking a dip at Langosteira Beach, arriving in Fisterra feeling refreshed, as the town sits right at the end of it. From there, only three kilometres remain uphill along the road to the famous lighthouse — though it’s best to rest first. Tip: the perfect time to climb, if the day is not completely overcast, is late afternoon, to witness the spectacle of the last ray of sun visible in Europe. In ancient times, people from across the continent who worshipped the sun made pilgrimages here — and thousands still do so today.

The stage begins by leaving the village of Olveiroa and making a gentle climb to Hospital, where the Camino splits. One path continues towards Muxía, while the other leads directly to Cee — the one you should take to follow this direct route to Fisterra. From there, a long descent begins towards Cee, a seafaring town that opens onto the so-called Corcubión Inlet and is currently the largest settlement in the area.

In this final stage of the Way of Fisterra and Muxía, you’ll leave the Muxía peninsula via Lourido beach, heading toward Lires, where one of the smallest rías in Galicia forms. From Lires, you’ll head to Duio, either via the standard path or the O Rostro variant, which goes by the beach of the same name. Both routes converge in San Martiño de Duio — a village linked to the legendary Roman city of Dugium. Legend says it was swallowed by the sea because of the sins of its inhabitants who persecuted the disciples of Saint James carrying his body. Later, you’ll reach Langosteira, home to one of the most incredible beaches in Galicia, and finally Fisterra. Only three kilometers of uphill road separate you from the famous lighthouse. A tip: don’t miss the sunset from the cliff. In ancient times, people from across the continent who worshipped the sun made pilgrimages there for that very moment. Fisterra has long been considered the westernmost point of Europe. Beyond its rugged coastline lies the vast Ocean — or, as the ancient Romans called it, the Mare Tenebrosum, the Sea of Darkness. We recommend spending time at the fish market, walking along the harbor, tasting the exceptional local seafood cuisine, and visiting the Sea Museum, the church of Virxe das Areas, and of course, the spectacular surroundings of the lighthouse. NOTE: If you have time, we recommend splitting this long stage into two by staying overnight in Lires. That way, the journey breaks into two stages of 15.2 km and 12.3 km. These shorter stages reduce walking time and allow you to enjoy the local beauty more calmly, such as Lires beach or the maritime heritage of Fisterra.
