To the left, the variant that leads to Ribadeo via Tapia de Casariego, which is the one described here. It is a flat stage with beautiful scenery, cliffs, and beaches such as Penarronda. It also allows a visit to the charming town of Tapia de Casariego (in Asturian, simply Tapia) and its harbor. This route is 1 km longer than the Tol alternative but ends at the same destination: Ribadeo.

Last stage of the Northern Way through Asturias, ending by crossing the Eo estuary and entering Galicia. After leaving La Caridad (A Caridá), you quickly reach Porcía, where you must make a choice. The Camino splits here: the left fork goes to Ribadeo via Tapia de Casariego; the right fork also leads to Ribadeo but via Tol, with the option to detour through Vegadeo. This description follows the Tol variant ending in Ribadeo. It’s a comfortable stage, following dirt tracks and quiet paved local roads. From Figueras, the estuary is currently crossed via the pedestrian lane on the Puente de los Santos.
