The pilgrimage route of Saint Francis in Italy leads from Florence to Rome. It is mostly undertaken in two sections. The first section leads from Florence to Assisi, the second from Assisi to Rome. At the end of September 2025, my brother Horst and I walked the second section from Assisi to Rome in 12 stages. If you want to walk the pilgrimage route, you should be aware that it is located in the mountains of Tuscany and Umbria. Among other things, you will experience long stages with many steep ascents and descents sometimes up to 1000m altitude difference, and that with a heavy backpack. Therefore, it is advisable to prepare well physically and organizationally. To examine the GPS data of the stages precisely and add it to the accommodation information.
