Pilgrim walks in Val Bregaglia

The Marian Alpine Path is a trekking route that allows you to cross the Valtellina up to the Sanctuary of the Madonna of Tirano, a pilgrimage destination for centuries. A spiritual path that touches numerous Marian places of worship but also an opportunity to discover the deeper cultural side and the most characteristic landscapes of the province of Sondrio!

Breathtaking mountain landscapes, with peaks, valleys, and alpine villages, a hiking experience blending nature and local culture: the Sentiero Italia in Valtellina, from Sorico to Passo di Gavia.

Among vineyards, villages, and historical memories, here is one of the most evocative and panoramic stages of the Alpine Marian Walk!

Up to the panorama route to Soglio or stay down and follow the Via Sett. The Swiss part of the route ends in Castasegna. Continue on foot or by postal bus to Chiavenna.

On our hike over the Septimer Pass, we reach its highest point at 2310 m above sea level, which is also the highest point of the entire European Columbanus Way and a triple watershed.

The second stage, one of the longest of the Western Route of the Marian Path of the Alps, crosses Morbegno until reaching, on the edge of the village, the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin Assumed, a gem of the Valtellina and Lombard Renaissance.

Still on the Rhaetian side of the Valtellina, after leaving Berbenno, the third stage continues to the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Sassella, surrounded by terraces and vineyards, and then leads to the city of Sondrio.
