Pilgrim walks in Aflenz

After the Kurpark Aflenz, it goes peacefully over forest and meadow paths and a section on the bike path to Etmißl. Through the Oischinggraben it leads to the Riegnereck and finally through the Pfeiffergraben to Tragöß with its green lake.

From Seewiesen, cross the valley floor. The path then leads to the idyllic Hackenalm and over the Hackentörl back down into the Feistringgraben. At the end of the gorge, there is a sensory and power place. Aflenz was first settled by monks from St. Lambrecht. From there, Mariazell was then founded.

Aufgrund seiner zum Teil doch recht anspruchsvollen Etappen und Höhenunterschiede ist er nur für erfahrene Pilger, Wallfahrer und Weitwanderer geeignet. Neben kulturhistorischen Höhepunkten, wie das St. Lambrecht und die Abtei Seckau, erwartet uns auch eine einmalige Naturlandschaft, die uns für all die körperlichen Mühen entlang dieses Pilgerweges entschädigen wird.

The Mariazell Pilgrimage Route stretches over 192 kilometres and leads from St. Lambrecht Abbey in Murau, through the Murtal and the region Erzberg Leoben to the final destination of Mariazell in Hochsteiermark. On a total of 7 stages, on foot you discover devotional places of strength in the green heart of Styria. Reversed, the Pilgrim’s Trail from Mariazell to St. Lambrecht can be completed as a part of the famous Romea Strata, with Rome as the end of the journey.
