This section of the European Long-Distance Trail from Trento to Verona is one of the most beautiful and varied stretches of the entire E5. On this route, you will enjoy breathtaking views, with expansive vistas over the entire Adige Valley and the peaks of the Dolomites, extending all the way to the Po Plain.
Day 1: Arrival

Individual arrival in Trento.

Day 2: Trento – Levico Terme – Lavarone

(approx. 6 hours)

In the morning, you take the bus from Trento to Levico Terme, the starting point of the stage. You climb the rugged valley behind Monte Calmo, which is clearly visible from Levico, and then continue hiking leisurely through vast forests and meadows towards Lavarone.

Day 3: Lavarone – Passo Coe

(approx. 6-7 hours)

You hike through meadows and forests into the ski area of Passo Coe, which is located on the border with Veneto. Along the way, you pass Forte Monte Cherle and a ruined military hospital from World War I.

Day 4: Passo Coe – Rifugio Lancia

(approx. 7 hours)

This stage takes you along trails and mountain paths to Monte Maggio, where a spectacular ridge hike follows. After descending to Passo della Borcola, you climb up the opposite side and continue the hike. The area between Trento and Vicenza is one of the wildest in Italy and offers breathtaking views.

Day 5: Rifugio Lancia – Rifugio Campogrosso

(approx. 6-7 hours)

On this stage, you will cross the historically significant Pasubio massif. The hike takes you along trails over the Dente Austriaco (Austrian Plate) to the Dente Italiano, where Austrians and Italians fought between 1916 and 1918. You continue past fortifications, trenches, artillery positions, and blasted barracks to Rifugio Papa, then along the Strada degli Eroi (Heroes' Road) to Passo Pian della Fugazze and finally to Rifugio Campogrosso.

Day 6: Rifugio Campogrosso – Giazza

(approx. 6 hours)

The hike takes you on a challenging ascent to a steep cirque at Bocchetto di Fondi. The area is rightly called Piccole Dolomiti (Little Dolomites), as the terrain here is extremely rugged.

Day 7: Giazza – Erbezzo

(approx. 6-7 hours)

You hike through the hills of the Lessinian Mountains and will notice how the landscape gradually changes into vast grassy alpine pastures. This stage requires endurance and fitness, as there are constant ascents and descents.

Day 8: Erbezzo – Montecchio – Verona

(approx. 6 hours)

This is the final stage of the E5. At the beginning of the hike, you still have views of the last hills of the Alps and the Po Valley beyond. A highlight of this stage is undoubtedly the 50-meter-long natural bridge Ponte di Veia. From the stage destination Montecchio, you take a transfer to Verona.

Day 9: Departure

Individual departure from Verona.
