Alternative trail to avoid the rockfall zone

To avoid the area prone to rockfalls and subject to the Contamines municipal ordinance:

• If you’re coming from the west (Refuge des Prés/Col de Fenêtre): follow the 4x4 trail to the area above the Refuge de la Balme, then head up the T.M.B. trail (Tour du Mont-Blanc) until you rejoin the trail on a plateau near an electrical pylon.
• If you’re coming from the southeast (Plan Jovet/Col du Bonhomme): descend via the T.M.B. trail toward the Refuge de la Balme, which you can see a little further down. Just above the Balme Refuge, head up the other side by following the 4x4 trail.

This detour adds about 500 m to the distance and involves an additional elevation gain of approximately +/- 100 m
