The route starts at the passenger station of Kornwestheim, opened in 1846, leads through the Kornwestheim Weststadt characterized by railway workers' residences, and via a section of the historic Solitudeallee to the marshalling yard and container station. Railway bridges and tunnels offer many opportunities for "trainspotting" before returning through the Salamander area to the passenger station.

The approximately 20 km long hike takes us from Kornwestheim through Alt-Zuffenhausen and the Zuffenhausen vineyards, through the Leibfried Garden and Wartberg, created as part of the IGA 1993, to the Weißenhof settlement with the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Le Corbusier/Pierre Jeanneret houses, and over Mönchhalde and Prag Cemetery into the Europaviertel at Stuttgart train station. After a tour through Stuttgart city center with the new and old castle and collegiate church, it goes through the castle park to the North Station. From there, take the S-Bahn back to Kornwestheim.
