The described route can very well be completed in 2.5 to 3 days. You either stay overnight at Erfurter and Bayreuther Hut, or if the huts are still closed, you can bivouac along the path.
Seven summits can be climbed on the way without a via ferrata set. However, it is very advisable to take one for the eighth (Roßköpfe).
