This bike route is about borders and boundary stones but also about the limits of one's own performance, as there is more up and down than one would like. Today we ride through all three regions of the Karlsruhe city area, but we do not stay within Karlsruhe's district boundaries; we even ride up into the neighboring district.

The weather did not match the schedule. Since no one was at the meeting point at the planned time, I then drove 45 minutes later, as soon as the rain had stopped, by the fastest route to the Ludwig Gillardon Hut to explore what the trail situation actually looks like. Based on the recording, we see that both the official hiking map W210 and the topographic map and Outdooractive map on this portal are roughly wrong in the target area. The OpenStreetMap map matches the actual situation best. In particular, the route of the Graf von Wiser hiking trail is correctly marked on the OpenStreetMap map but incorrectly on the official hiking map W210.

On our bike hiking route today, it's about things that are simply there. Partially, we pass through very charming landscapes where we will also have to push the bike.

Martin is back from his long vacation and wanted to join a tour right away. The weather was forecasted to be worse. In the morning, we set off from Forchheim at 10:30 AM with 5°C. Even the sun was shining from the sky. So everything was perfect for cycling. Through the Rhine meadows past the Karlsruhe oil harbor, always cycling along the Alb, we rode up to Leopoldshafen. Unfortunately, the ferry to the Palatinate is out of service. Why, no one knows. Through the Hardtwald, we cycled over the rear Karlsruhe castle garden and the Fasanenhof towards Durlach. This route is always nice. In Durlach, we had to navigate through side streets due to heavy traffic. At the Bergfriedhof, we finally climbed up to the Turmberg. The view from the Brigande's local mountain was great today. We wanted to be in Ettlingen by 2:00 PM, which was too optimistic. Over the Thomas and Batzenhof, we rode downhill to Hohenwettersbach, then immediately turned left to end up in Grünwettersbach. Now we only had the Edelberg and Wattkopf in front of us. The climbs to the highest point of the Karlsruhe district already cost a few energy reserves. The radio tower on the Wattkopf was a bonus. From there, it was all downhill. So we met Michael Schn. just in time at Brauhaus Vogel. A joint beer was a must now. Martin thanked for the harmonious round, he had wonderfully reintegrated into the team again.

Schafskälte und starker Wind vor dem Vatertag. Dazu hohe Regenwahrscheinlichkeit.
