Our southern Italy tour was by far the most beautiful tour and at the same time the last one that Mirjam herself rode. We set out in late summer 2016 for a tour for which we reserved a month. After stops at Lake Garda and the upper Adriatic, we turned towards the Apennines in Marche. Here the top destinations line up like a string of pearls. San Leo with its medieval fortress, the Gorla Gorge, which is only passable for pedestrians, bicycles, and motorcycles, or the pilgrimage site for Valentino Rossi fans Urbino. The absolute highlight of the trip was the Gran Sasso National Park. Anyone near this park should definitely go and see it. At Campo Imperatore, a bad weather front with sleet surprised us and provided great pictures!!! Just before our first stage goal, the fall. The Gargano was our first stage destination. About 150 km before it – it was raining cats and dogs – Mirjam fell twice in quick succession. Both falls were without health consequences. Clearly, a turn signal was broken. Obviously, the handlebar was slightly bent and a few fairing parts were torn. But thankfully, my wife was unharmed. Unharmed on the outside, inside it looked different. She no longer felt safe and could not be motivated by any power in the world to get back on the motorcycle. Trip cancellation. In a state of emergency – torn between disappointment and understanding – I organized the transport of our bikes back with a truck and our return trip by train. Many thanks again to the team of the forwarding company Vögel in Bludesch with the legendary driver Jack from Styria for the active support in transporting our bikes back! I had no idea how to load two motorcycles without a forklift or ramp. Jack showed me how to do it. [ENGLISH]Southern Italy with consequences.
