Nordmannsturm in the Deister with adjoining forest restaurant
The Nordmannsturm is a 19-metre-high observation tower in the Deister in the district of Nienstedt, a district of Bad Münder. It is located on the Reinekensiekskopf on the ridge path of the Deister at an altitude of 382 m above sea level.
The tower was built in 1863 by the Hanoverian master bricklayer Constantin Nordmann. The stone blocks for its construction came from the "Teufelskammer" quarry on the south-western slope of the Deister. It was almost completely destroyed by a lightning strike in 1881, but was rebuilt the following year.
The tower can be climbed for a donation during the opening hours of the adjoining forest restaurant. From the viewing platform, you have a sweeping view of the Weser Uplands.<br
