The beautiful 5-star Riffelalp Resort sits on a plateau high above Zermatt at 7290 ft above sea level
Riffelalp is just above treeline on the southern edge of a plateau on the Gornergrat ridge, just a short distance from a stop on the Gornergrat train line. The Riffelalp does everything well. The rooms are spacious and thoughtful, the pools and spa are a wonderful break from hiking (be sure to check out the warm outdoor soaking pool with Matterhorn panorama), and the meals are memorable. They bring class to the mountains without making you feel out of place for showing up in your hiking clothes.
The Riffelalp Resort has a porter at the Gornergrat train station in Zermatt. You will need to purchase tickets for the trip up to the resort from Zermatt. Turn left out of the Zermatt train station to find the Gornergrat station across the street. There’s a small buzzer for the Riffelalp porter just left of the entrance door. You can take your bags to him and he will make sure they get to the hotel.
The arrival and departure transfers with the Gornergrat railway are not included in your stay. Tickets for the journey can be purchased in advance via the SBB app or on site at the Gornergrat ticket office/ticket machine or from the village porter. If you using one of the days on your rail pass on your arrival or departure day, you can get a 50% discount on your ticket.
