Hotel du Barrage

The Grand Dixence dam, the largest gravity dam in the world, towers over 2000 meters above the hotel. Originally built as housing for the staff as the dam was being built, the Hotel du Barrage doesn’t look all that inspiring from the outside, but the hotel is comfortable and it makes a nice alternative to dorm-only accommodations at Prafleuri hut. The hotel has recently renovated their rooms, and are under new management. The location is perfect for hikes above the reservoir.
There is bus access here from Sion, a small gift shop, and a cable car to the top of the dam.
